背景：
Mitochondria play a crucial role in cellular energy metabolism and are indispensable organelles in eukaryotic cells. Although the human mitochondrial genome encodes 13 proteins, most mitochondrial proteins are synthesized in the cytoplasm as precursors and then transported across mitochondrial membranes through translocase protein complexes. The translocase of the outer mitochondrial membrane (TOM complex) facilitates the import of proteins across this membrane, while the translocase of the inner mitochondrial membrane (TIM complex) facilitates protein transport into the mitochondrial matrix. The TOM complex contains the receptors TOM20, TOM22, TOM70, and the channel-forming protein TOM40. TOM20 is located on the outer mitochondrial membrane and initially recognizes precursors containing presequences, thereby promoting protein import across the membrane. Subsequently, the presequence recognized by TOM20 is connected to the TOM40 protein complex, enabling efficient sequential import of proteins.
